Nordmaling Municipality is an urban centre between cities – an oasis straddled by Umeå and Örnsköldsvik. Here you can enjoy action-packed activities or relax in nature in both the winter and the summer. You're surrounded by the sea, lakes and rivers, providing excellent opportunities for outdoor pursuits such as hiking, fishing, canoeing or sunbathing and swimming. Öreälven and Lögdeälven are great rivers for fishing.
Then we have the Järnäs peninsula with its old fishing spot Järnäsklubb and Fårskäret, a family-friendly spot by the sea with a long sandy beach. South of Nordmaling is the archipelago comprised of Kronören and Drivören. This is where Västerbotten's stony moraine coast meets the fertile and rocky High Coast. Also worth seeing is Olofsfors Bruk, one of Sweden's best preserved industrial monuments.
For those interested in arts and crafts there's a varied offering to provide inspiration. Why not book a visit to an artist's studio or visit one of the boutiques? Nordmaling Market, part of the Hemvändarveckan event in mid-July, is also worth a visit.
