Olofsfors bruk

One of Sweden's most authentic and well-preserved ironworks. Smelting works, forges, a mansion and workers' homes in good condition are open to visitors during the summer – book your visit at other times of the year.

Olofsfors Bruk was founded in 1762 and is one of the most authentic and well-preserved ironworks in Sweden. The forests and waterways enabled the production of high-quality pig iron and rod iron. The iron ore was extracted from mines in Uppland and Bergslagen and the finished products were exported to Europe.

This ironworks located in Västerbotten County has cultural heritage status and is of national interest. The foundation Olofsfors Bruksmuseum takes care of much of the area and arranges guided tours and activities.

Olofsfors Bruk has a museum, restaurant, café, conference centre, building conservation shop and accommodation. In the summertime, it's not uncommon for well-established artists to display their works here.

In 2014 Olofsfors Bruk was named industrial monument of the year.
