Downhill skiing

There’s something special about Västerbotten and skiing. This is where Ingemar Stenmark, Anja Pärson and many other top Swedish skiers were born. There are ski resorts with a wide variety of slopes. Family-friendly if you want – off piste if you dare.

If you’re looking for skiing for all the family, rails, big-jumps or off piste skiing, the fells of Västerbotten are the place. Several destinations also offer heliskiing for the ultimate challenge.

Inland and nearer the coast there are several welcoming family-friendly slopes offering great downhill skiing.

If you don’t own your own ski gear, equipment can be hired at several of our resorts. Check when you book.
Pack a picnic and head for the hills.

A lot of world champions and Olympic medallists in cross-country skiing trained in Västerbotten in Lapland. But that probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise when you think that the county is home to vast expanses of snow and prepared trails.

Cross-country skiing starts right outside your door in the mountains of Västerbotten in Lapland. Head out into off-trail terrain, or follow the trails out into the wilds and the breathtaking winter wonderland of Västerbotten in Lapland.

There are lots of family-friendly ski slopes inland: Malå, Storklinta, Bygdsiljum and Agnäs, to name but a few. Snowboarders will love Middagsberget outside Vännäs, which offers a fantastic halfpipe and several big jumps thanks to the local snowboard gymnasium.
